Beltinci, Beltinci, Slovenia 9231, Slovenia

Overview

A castle is said to have stood in Beltinci as early as the Middle Ages (15th or 14th century). The rectangular-shaped manor house was surrounded by a wall with four towers, which was surrounded by a defensive ditch with water from the Črnec stream.
The castle is classified as an immovable monument of local importance and was declared so on 17 December 1988. A cultural local monument is a building that has exceptional cultural value at the local level. Such buildings are initially assessed as cultural heritage and then entered into the Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage. The declaration is carried out by acts of declaration adopted by the competent authority. These acts are published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia or the local community gazette.
In the embrace of an extensive park in the landscape style, stands a Baroque mansion, built in the early 16th century by the Counts Banffy, and in the 17th century it was converted into a two-story mansion with typical Pannonian architecture and a preserved Renaissance castle with arcaded corridors. Three round towers with a conical roof have been preserved at the corners of the castle.
The castle once represented the central place of events, the meeting place of all important personalities and today it still represents the center of cultural events in Beltinci.
The castle houses the permanent exhibition collections History of Health Care in Pomurje, Noble Families in Beltinci Castle with the Salon of Marija Zichy, a wedding hall, a restaurant and the headquarters of the Institute for Tourism, Culture and Sports Beltinci.
