Lokovina 10, Dobrna, Dobrna, Slovenia 3204, Slovenia

Overview

The Novi grad manor house, formerly Neuhaus, has a rich past. The owner Franc Ksaver Dienersberg built Novi grad on the plain below Kačjek. The manor house, which has no particular style, is surrounded by a beautiful park, but the building is worth a visit. In front of it stands an antique lion brought from Ranšperg Castle. In the second half of the 19th century, a small tower was added to the manor house and wooden decorations were added. After the war, the building was intended for war orphans, and today it houses the Dobrna Training and Protection Institute.
It was built in 1774 by Franc Ksaverij Avguštin, Baron Dienersberg, as his new home. After him, the owners changed frequently; after World War II, it housed the Ivanka Uranjek Institute for War Orphans, then the Miha Pintar Home for Youth with Special Needs for many years.
The empty building is now state-owned and has no purpose. There is a well-maintained park next to it, which offers a pleasant walk to the beautifully landscaped pond in Lokovina.
