There was once a hammer forge on the Dravinja River near Majšperk, and the neighboring manor house was soon named Hamre Castle. Already in the Middle Ages, the Minorites had a large mill here, but they later turned it into a forge, or rather a nail shop. The forge operated with hammers powered by the Dravinja River, which is why this part is still called Hamre today. It was owned by the Ptuj Minorites as early as 1461. In 1735, the castle was renovated in the old Baroque style. In 1898, the castle came into private hands, but the forge burned down before that. From 1922 to 1945, the castle was owned by Karel and Marija Kubricht.
