Overview

Javornik Manor was not always called the same. At first, the manor was called Prušnik Manor (Pruschnigghof). Later, around 1540, it was acquired by Luka Gams, who renovated it and surrounded it with walls and towers. At that time, it was renamed Gamsenegg Manor.
In the second half of the 16th century, it was acquired by the Jaborneggs. They were merchants of Guštanj, and in 1667 they became barons. The Javorniks owned the manor even after 1715.
Later, it came into the hands of the Wayersbergs and the Gačniks (Schlangenburgs).
At the end of the 19th century, its owner was Franc Ksaverij Schmied. From 1910 until his death, in 1946, the manor was acquired by the Protestant Silesian Ernest Ossiander.
Later it was the property of the general public, but now it is privately owned. Around 1960, the Ravne Ironworks began to restore it, but without success. Later they managed to restore the tower.
After World War II, the manor passed into the hands of the people. With the new owners, the manor began to deteriorate rapidly, as they had neither the finances nor the interest in its maintenance or renovation.
Then the management of the State Agricultural Estate Javornik became the owner of the manor. The manor was assigned to the Prevalje Agricultural Cooperative, which managed the apartments. The manor thus became a building in which people lived. Because the residents did not know how to appreciate the interior furnishings enough, many pieces were additionally destroyed or lost.
In 1984, the residents were evicted and the Ravne Self-Administered Housing Association, as the owner of the manor, began to carry out the most urgent protective works. The first part of the preservation of the building was completed in 1989. Unfortunately, the restoration was not continued.
With the nationalization of the Ravna Ironworks, the Javornik manor and the De profundis company also became state property. In 1996, the manor was sold to the P.S.T. company in Kotlje, which still owns the castle today.
