Overview
On the site where the remains of the castle are visible today, the Tuscan Counts of Rabatta built a typical late Renaissance castle in the second quarter of the 17th century. It probably included the remains of a medieval columned castle, which is said to have stood on this hill. Throughout history, the castle has changed owners many times and undergone several renovations. It housed a valuable art collection, which is now in the British Museum in London. The castle was destroyed in the First World War, and after the war, the architect Nibrant renovated it in the style of a bourgeois villa. Legend has it that Napoleon once spent the night in the castle. Because his horse was said to have died at that time and was buried near the castle, this area was named Na konjevom.
